Feiolix has three different pathways that increase GLP-1 secretion in the body. GLP-1 helps to increase satiety, delay gastric emptying, and regulate blood sugar levels. GLP-1 agonists have been researched thoroughly for their weight management potential.
Feiolix contains high concentrations of bioactives which impact glucose levels in the bloodstream by increasing insulin secretion, inhibiting glucagon release (prevent blood sugar levels from getting too high), and sensitising receptors to glucose, decreasing insulin resistance.

NZ Feijoas contain 114% more abscisic acid than any other fruit. Abscisic acid is one of our key bioactives that naturally stimulates GLP-1 production, amongst other things. Our proprietary processing protects the abscisic acid and passes its benefits on to Feiolix consumers.

Feiolix and it’s bioactives’:
Feiolix contains 3 key bioactives that helps with metabolic regulation
- Abscisic Acid
- Increases energy usage by increasing thermogenesis in humans.
- Binds to the GLUT4 in skeletal and adipose cells. ABA sensitises GLUT4 to glucose in the blood stream and increases the amount of glucose absorbed from blood stream
- ABA binds to LANCL2 and increases insulin secretion and ultimately absorption of glucose from the blood stream.
- ABA triggers the secretion of GLP-1
- Inhibits NFkB which leads to less disruptive hunger signalling and leading to feelings of satiety
- Polyphenols (Specifically ellagitannins and catechins)
- Converted to bioavailable urolithins, which promote insulin and GLP-1 secretion
- Bind to the bitter taste receptors in the intestine promoting GLP-1 secretion
- Inhibit NFkB to lead to feelings of satiety
- Dietary Fibre (Xylans and Xyloglucans)
- Provide food to the microbiome that is converted into SCFA’s
- Triggers the release of GLP-1 and PYY
- PYY inhibits ghrelin , a hunger promoting hormone

Feiolix and Clinical
Our latest clinical, The Ferdinand Study, has recently been completed in collaboration with the University of Auckland and the High Value Nutrition Unit. The study was a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, parallel-arm clinical trial. There were 97 participants ranging from 18-75 years old with fasting plasma glucose levels in the prediabetic range. Participants consumed Feiolix (1150mg) or placebo over the 6 month course of the study. In the first two months participants were on a low energy diet (800 calories a day) designed to lower weight and metabolic markers significantly and then for the following 4 months, participants were on a weight manteninace diet. The point of this design was to see if Feiolix could help with the rebound effect.
Key Takeaways:
- Feiolix significantly reduced fasting plasma glucose compared to placebo over 6 months.
- 185% improvement in FPG in Feiolix group compared to placebo at 6 months
- Feiolix led to significant reduction in systolic blood pressure compared to placebo
- 9mmHG reduction in 2 months, equivalent to a reduction in risk of major cardiovascular events by 20%
- No significant safety concerns were reported at the studied dose.
- This study supports Feiolix’s positioning as a safe, effective ingredient for supporting metabolic health in at-risk populations.
